"I market Paxton Van Lines services a number of different ways. One of the most important is through networking, lead groups and chamber organizations. The key to success with networking is to be consistent. If you attend the meetings on a regular basis, other members begin to trust that you're dependable. Someone who believes in you can be the best source of word-of-mouth advertising and referrals.

I do a lot of cold calling. Every business is a potential customer for Paxton, as most businesses eventually need moving services. I spend a good part of my day on the phone, introducing the company and finding out prospects' future needs in relation to our services.

I also keep in touch with referral sources, such as commercial leasing companies and telephone/telecommunications equipment providers. These companies often get the word first that a company is planning on moving and let me know. These referral relationships are extremely important to our business.

I make it a point to visit the county business license office every two weeks or so. They have a list of new businesses that are planning to move to the area.

Paxton also exhibits at trade shows on a regular basis. Our company vehicles have our company logo and phone numbers prominantly displayed. Our Yellow Page advertisements bring us a lot of leads, and we're also listed in the major trade publication directories."
