Short copy is memorable How to best depict an internationally recognized outdoor theater on a poster in two words or less. Start by letting the image tell most of the story. In this case it is a panorama showing all the stars, trees and entertainers taking a bow. Then come up with the best words to pay off such a vision. With such short copy, this great big concept is hard to forget from both a verbal and a visual point of view.
A poster without type is quite a rarity. To conceive of such a direction, the designer must recognize very unusual circumstances when they present themselves. For this sample, type just wasn't necessary because the piece was only hung in close proximity to the actual location which it depicts. The problem was that few passersby realized that this row of townhouses beginning at 2000 Pennsylvania Avenue are actually the shell for a most unique shopping center. The solution was to raise its roof which revealed all the wonders to be found inside.
