Design your Web home page to change on a regular basis.
Here's something that can't readily be done on the cover of a book. To keep a visitor's interest in returning high, include an area for topical stories that is changeable. For example, the gray area in the design below can accommodate a new picture and new copy whenever appropriate. Though, for the sake of identity and consistency, the position of each must remain constant. For the same reason, each of the other elements should also maintain its placement and look.

Put your readers on the cover.
Or at least, the back cover. Featuring crew member photos on the back cover of this employee magazine immediately reinforces its good intentionĀto help workers know that they are part of a friendly and caring business community. The idea is particularly well suited to this situation because so many work away from home for extended periods of time.
Given the total number of crew members at that time, we estimated that everyone's smiling face would eventually be shown in about four years. That's a lot of magazines that will be saved for posterity and sent home to loved ones. So, rather than having a short shelf life, many will serve as wonderful reminders of the good times and valuable experiences to be enjoyed while working for this cruise line.
